Marvellous California

Over at Language Log, Arnold Zwicky hast posted an absolutely fascinating (and I must say, also very moving) blog entry about his late partner, who was suffering from radiation dementia and had very specific and selective impairments, of which the most striking one was the 'inability' to read the word "California" because he was unable to integrate it into his confabulated view of the world.

Arnold Zwicky also has a lot of other short post on the increasingly more impaired condition of his partner, which you can find here.
